| Dr. Childs introduced our speaker, Dr. Joe Zeiter…Joe canceled his scheduled surgery’s and traveled from Stockton last night to speak with us, thank you Dr. Joe.
Dr. Joe states that 80% of the brain has something to do with your eye and sight.
In 1981 cataract surgery took 20 min. with a 1 week hospital stay and 4 weeks before you could wear the big bottle glasses so common in those days. Now surgery is an in-office procedure taking (for Dr. Joe) approx. 8 minutes, you then have coffee and a doughnut, get your eye drops and sunglasses (also have your picture taken with Dr. Joe) and walk out of the office, no pain and seeing clearly.
I had my surgery on Fri. of 1 week for the 1st eye and Fri. of the next week for the other eye….my sight is now 20/40.
The new restore lenses are not paid for by medi-cal and cost $2,000 for ea. Eye, medi-cal will pay for the older lenses. Dr. Joe is one of 50 Dr.s in the world who does restore lenses.
He also does tumors, and other cosmetic and medical needs including lasix with the cost being approx.$4,200, if wave front is needed another $1,000, insurance will not pay for this procedure, it is thought to be cosmetic. The Dominant eye holds 95% of your vision and will be the one most likely to have the surgery.
Eye lids will cost $3,000 for upper lids and $2,700 for lower.
Many questions and answers, lots of interest…thank you Dr. Joe and Dr. Childs.
